Newt Gingrich Says Madonna Should Be Arrested For Womens March Speech

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich thinks Madonna should be arrested for saying she thought about blowing up the White House during her fiery speech at the Womens March on Washington.

Yes, Im angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House, Madonna jokingly told the massive crowd Saturday. But I know that this wont change anything.

The 58-year-old pop music icon, who has been an outspoken critic of PresidentDonald Trump, spent the bulk of her nearly five-minute speech encouraging the D.C. demonstrators to embrace love and refrain from despair.

Good did not win this election, but good will win in the end, she continued.

But that didnt stop Gingrich, a longtime advisor to Trump, from calling for her arrest during a Monday appearance on Fox & Friends.

What you have is an emerging left-wing fascism. Shes part of it, and I think we have to prepare to protect ourselves, Gingrich said. The truth is, she ought to be arrested.

Madonna said Sunday on Instagram that her White House comment was a metaphor and taken wildly out of context.

Im not a violent person, she wrote. I know that acting out of anger doesnt solve anything. And the only way to change things for the better is to do it with love.

The First Amendment protects a wide range of speech, including hateful expression and some threats, unlessserious [intent]to commit an act of unlawful violence to a particular individual or group of individuals is proven.
